Ron's Birthday

This year I decided to theme Ron's birthday. Since I am married to a man-child I thought there is no better theme for his 31st birthday than Transformers!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Last month (right after Ron returned from Rhode Island) we decided to drive down to Colorado Springs and partake in the wonderful zoo down there! It was a beautiful day (thankfully the thunderstorm held off until we were headed home) and we had a wonderful time together. We enjoyed the sky ride (which would be considered similar to a ski lift) and was able to see ALL the way to Kansas! ;-) One of the fun activities this specific zoo offers is the opportunity to feed the giraffes. We didn't feed them, but since everyone else was we got an upclose and personal view of each one of them! And boy do they have super long tongues (the kids are such a hoot to watch when they got kissed)! What a super fun day!
Can you see Kansas???
Going down...hang on!

Pucker up!
Am I a white horse w/black stripes or a black horse w/white stripes?

Summer Fun

This summer was a little different. As soon as Ron finished school (actually a few days before the official end of class) he left for ODS (Officer Development School) in Newport, Rhode Island. I will see if I can get a few pictures off his phone and post them for your viewing pleasure. So, while he was gone my parents came up for about a week to keep me company. We went up to Winter Park where The Moffat Tunnel resides. My great grandfather (on my mother's side) helped build this tunnel, so my mom wanted to go check it out. Apparently my mother has a picture of my grandma and her father standing at the mouth of the tunnel as it was being built. So this is a big part of our family history.
While there, we decided to enjoy some of the gorgeous scenery!
We then decided to take a detour and drive through the Eisenhower Tunnel. We just wanted to say we did it! ;-)

Finally, I got to enjoy Father's Day with my daddy...which has been a long time coming. I had such a wonderful visit with them. I am so glad they were able to make it up!

Beautiful in Blue

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! Well, sort of. We have been in process of talking about and looking for a new car for me for over a year now. My poor Grand Am was not aging well and was starting to become somewhat of a hazard to drive (not only that, but fixing her was becoming more expensive than she was worth). So, a bittersweet moment when I had to say "good bye" to her, but "hello" to my beautiful NEW 2011 Toyota Rav4! I am totally in love with this vehicle, what more can I say?!?!?

Coming Home

My naval officer is coming home tonight! :-) He's been gone for five weeks at Officer Development School in Rhode Island. The first couple weeks without him were pretty rough, but I have grown to enjoy my "me" time. I am so proud of his commitment and looking forward to our move to the beach after medical school! Love you Ronnie!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a busy Memorial Day weekend this year. Lots of food and friends to help us celebrate! Being that Ron and his friends are all part of the US military, I want to give a big SHOUT OUT to those who have or are serving their country! Thank you to you and your families for the sacrifices made!

Friday night was the RVU (Rocky Vista University) End of the Year bash! It was a dress up event, so we all wore our best! I have to admit, I was all hyped up about it, but it turned out to be a bit less exciting than I had hoped. Oh, well. We still had a great time hanging out with our friends!

Saturday was even busier! We went out hiking w/some of our friends! Beautiful area and a nice day for a hike!

Sushi for lunch and then out exploring. We went out to the Red Rocks Amphitheater as none of us had been out there yet! Reminds me a lot of southern Utah. Absolutely gorgeous. We took a small hike around the area, as the amphitheater was off limits as they were preparing for a concert (I didn't get a picture of the actual amphitheater, next time I promise)!
